Since I was in kindergarten, my goal in life was to make a difference. Whether it would be by writing books, saving lives by being in the medical field or counselling someone, I just wanted to help make this world a better place.
As I was packing away my newly turned 1 year old daughter’s clothes that she had out grown, I thought of the other infants who need them. I’ve been so blessed to have had the help from my family and friends while I was pregnant and even now. I realized that there are single mothers and other families out there who won’t be able to afford giving their children a nice present or even a big Christmas dinner. It kills me to know that some families go to sleep hungry while I complain about not getting cookies at night.
I went through my closet and took more than half of my clothes out. I went through my daughter’s outgrown clothes and put them in a bag. All together I had three trash bags that were over stuffed with clothing that I only kept around because of the sentimental value. I’d rather see the clothes on someone who needs them then in my closet collecting dust.
I finally decided to donate all the clothes and some baby food to the Salvation Army since that organization gives clothes and food to families in need for free. Hopefully when I get there, I’ll be able to help out more and actually volunteer with whatever help I can offer.
I just want to make someone’s life a little better.
